MY (EXTENDED) ABOUT ME

Howdy! If you found your way here, that means you probably want to learn more about my background.

CURRENTLY

⤷ Working full-time as an Open Source Engineer at Slack, where we're making building with Slack a fun and easy experience for developers across TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, and Java.

⤷ I am very into emojis - my favorite ones lately are the sparkle (✨), the flaming heart (❤️‍🔥), the strawberry (🍓), and the little melting emote (🫠).

⤷ I love building stuff! You can view some projects I've worked on in my Portfolio or GitHub.

⤷ I also love writing stuff (especially technical stuff!)! You can view some writings and talks I've done in my Writing + Media portfolio.

PREVIOUSLY

⤷ Helped empower developers as a Community Engineer at Mux, which helps make video easy and fun for developers to use. Fun fact: I drove the project to create and introduce the Mux Changelog from start to finish!

⤷ Did part-time Developer Advocacy and had fun on the Culture & Code podcast with the tech conference and organization RenderATL.

⤷ Built stuff at Mailchimp as a full-stack developer and software engineering intern.

⤷ Analyzed data at Tumblr as a data science analytics intern.

⤷ Worked on an open-source data tracing project at Pinterest as an infrastructure software engineering intern.

EXPERIENCE

I have jumped around to various types of engineering and developer experience roles, so here is a TL;DR of my experience across tech so far:

Languages, Frameworks and Software Engineering

⤷ I have experience with JavaScript, React, Python, HTML, CSS, Java, TypeScript, Next.js, working with CMS implementations such as Sanity, SQL and general database stuff (querying, creating and designing databases, and so on), working with open source projects (maintaining and contributing), internal and external product software development, MVC frameworks, app performance software development, data science analytics and data visualization, and Git and version control.

⤷ I also have some (briefer, but sturdy) foundations in developing projects with Java and Spring Boot, C++, and Ruby on Rails.

Overall, I love learning and exploring technologies and am always open to gaining knowledge and building on my existing technical skills! 💫

Developer Experience and Developer Relations

⤷ On the DevRel side, I have experience with Documentation and Documentation Engineering, creating video, audio, and written developer content and technical tutorials, public speaking on technical and non-technical topics (in-person and remotely), strategizing for developer audiences and needs, community building and engagement, and interacting with developer communities.

Other Professional Stuff

⤷ Phew! We've covered almost everything but I also wanted to add that I have experience with: working cross-functionally in big and small teams (startups, big companies, you name it!), process development and implementation, working in Agile environments, and technical and professional mentoring.
